Golden Monday | by Destiny Kelly
.
inspired by the painting Blue Monday by Annie Lee and renaissance art, I wanted to create a piece of history. This idea came to mind from my interest in learning how renaissance art shapes what society has deemed as beautiful. However I found the representation within an era that shapes what we define as beautiful missing black bodies and black beauty. And the impacts of that still has its place in our current world. This is my black world making at hand, and the black aliveness I wish to show in my art. Annie Lee’s work was the first painting I ever interacted with, and to go with it I wanted to create a world where every morning felt like a Golden Monday. And that’s the beauty I wish to see.

Thank u again to those who helped me during this process. This is in-fact my photography debut. And know this isn’t the end. I’ve really enjoyed being able to broaden my artworks in several mediums which has really validated this feeling of being an artist that has no bounds. I am no particular medium or type. But someone who just loves to create.
